(Neptune, NJ) – On 5/26/2020, Neptune Twp. PD Officer Matthew Simpson was conducting a follow-up investigation into a motor vehicle burglary and fraudulent use of a credit card at the 7-11, 31 South Main St. Neptune. While doing so, he located and arrested suspect Christopher R. Leone, 34 years old of Brooklyn, NY. Leone was in possession of suspected proceeds from multiple car burglaries.
A subsequent interview and investigation by Neptune Detectives resulted in Leone being charged with seven counts of Burglary and Theft to motor vehicles, one count of Receiving Stolen Property, and one count of Fraudulent Usage of a Credit Card. Local police departments were notified of Leone’s arrest and have charged Leone with crimes in their jurisdictions. It is believed all of these incidents involving Leone occurred between 5/22/2020 and 5/26/2020.
Leone was transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a detention hearing in accordance with bail reform.
All residents are reminded to lock their car doors at all times and leave valuables locked away and out of sight.
