(Neptune, NJ) – Neptune Twp. Police arrested an Asbury Park man Tuesday (1/31/2023) afternoon after he committed an occupied burglary and robbery earlier the same morning on the 10 Block of Ridge Ave. Neptune.
Kenneth Hilton, 49 years old of Mattison Ave. Asbury Park, forced entered the residence armed with a crowbar. Upon entering he encountered two occupants at which point he threatened them and demanded money. The victims fought back and thwarted Hilton’s attempt to rob them and as a result, were struck multiple times with the weapon. After the altercation, Hilton fled the residence at which point the police were notified.
Both victims suffered minor injuries and refused further medical treatment.
An investigation was immediately launched and with the assistance of the Monmouth County Sheriff’s K9 Unit and Asbury Park Police, evidence and witnesses led the investigation to an apartment on the 1000 Block of Springwood Ave. where he was placed under arrest without incident by the Neptune Twp. Police Department.
In addition to having warrants for his arrest, Hilton was charged with first degree robbery (two counts), burglary, aggravated assault (two counts), weapons offenses, possession of burglar’s tools and criminal mischief. Hilton was later transported to Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending a detention hearing in accordance with bail reform.
