NOTICE is hereby given that the position of Jailer in the Neptune Township Police Department is available at an annual salary of $36,500.00. This position is full time, 40 hours per week and required to work holidays.

The full-time Jailer for the Neptune Township Police Department shall be under the direct supervision of the Chief of Police or designee. The Jailer shall be responsible for performing duties such as maintain jail security; complete mandatory cell block inspections; supervise detainees; take inmates to court if necessary; take fingerprints and photographs; oversee the health and welfare of detainees; process and release of detainees; searching detainees; provide meals and telephone calls when necessary; maintain prisoner logs and required forms as per department standard operating procedures and directives and any other duties assigned by the Chief of Police or designee.

The candidate must have at a minimum a high school diploma or GED, hold a current and valid NJ Drivers License, must pass a background check including a criminal history and fingerprint check and must pass a medical and psychological examination and drug testing. Required experience as a Retired NJ Law Enforcement Officer; SLEO I (NJ PTC Certification) or SLEO II (NJ PTC Certification).
